If you are looking for a representative for your claim there are different types to chose from.  There are Lawyers and non-attorney representatives.  There are small local firms, huge national firms and everything in between.  When looking for a SSDI attorney the most important thing you can look for is experience.  Ask the lawyer or representative that you are considering how many Social Security Disability cases they have handled.  After you check how experienced they are then see if you are comfortable with that lawyer.

You can apply for SSDI in NC by calling 1-800-772-1213 and making an appointment at one of the local SSA offices.  You can also apply on-line at site listed below.  Supplemental Security Income claims must be filed in person at local district offices.  Keep in mind that the laws and what you have to show to prove disability are the same in every state.  Explore the rest of this site to understand every aspect of a claim for benefits.

As part of the Social Security Administration's plan to reduce hearing backlogs in the state of North Carolina they plan to open a new hearing office in Fayetteville, NC. When this new ODAR opens it will enable SSA to schedule more hearings in the state. This in turn, will hopefully reduce the amount of time people will have to wait to get a Social Security disability hearing in NC.
